Hello fellow music lovers, my name is David Lee. I’m a native Texan who spent over twenty years writing songs in Nashville for major publishers and have songs recorded by country music artist.  I now reside in Spring Branch, Texas where I still write, perform and mentor up and coming Texas artist.

On May 7, 2023 I was in Key West at a songwriter festival and was in a traumatic accident. I was driving a scooter, hustling from one gig to the next when a car ran out in front of me and to avoid the car, I laid the scooter down going about 25 mph. Unbeknownst to me, I had broken six ribs. Within a few minutes, the Key West  Paramedics showed up and took me to the emergency room where I was taken by care flight to Miami for major surgery. I was lucky enough that a new procedure had been discovered that stabilized the rib cage by platting four of my ribs.  I was in ICU for six days. The whole experience was a life changer and an eye opener. Without the financial support of my family, friends, fans and the Nashville songwriter community, my family and I would’ve been financially devastated. As the primary bread winner, I wasn't able to work for several months. I was humbled by the outpour of love and support. When I began to feel better, we established the Texas Songwriter Relief Fund a 501c3 aimed to provide financial assistance to professional Texas singer songwriters who perform full time in an effort to keep the show on the road. It provides financial assistance in matters such as: vehicle repair, towing, temporary living expenses while healing, equipment replacement and/or repair and other unforeseen circumstances.

We also established a committee to help us evaluate the request, and who also follow a criteria that is fair and reasonable.
